Cannabis in Space

Cannabis in Space

“Boldly going where no cannabis has gone before”

Our mission at Cannabis in Space focuses on growing marijuana and hemp on the International Space Station and Earth’s moon to research the effects of weightlessness, increased solar rays and other factors on THC and CBD content. And other characteristics of cannabis, such as the influence of terpenes in what is called the entourage effect. Such research can lead to the development of new strains of marijuana and hemp can be grown on Earth.

Agriculture in Space

Space agriculture has already been used to grow lettuce and other plants in space by sending seeds in a Falcon rocket to the International Space Station

Anheuser-Busch has done experiments with barley seeds on the ISS, and according to Forbes, this has already led to “…key findings regarding seed exposure and seed germination.”

Ultimately, our plants will be frozen and returned to Earth for comparison with cannabis grown on the planet from the same batch of seeds.

To the Moon, Alice?

Hemp in Space

In the future, newly developed strains can be sent to a Moon base and grown for commercial sales in the space tourism industry of the future. China’s Chang’e 4 lunar probe carried the first seeds to the Moon in January. Cotton, rapeseed, rock cress, yeast, and potato seeds sprouted in a “bio-sphere” on the lunar surface. They did not survive long, due to the extreme cold, but this marks a historic event in space agriculture.

Hemp in Space

Hemp first went to space in 2012. Astronauts on the International Space Station ate hemp cereal for breakfast. Fittingly, the Mission Director on board was a Canadian, from the first North American country to legalize cannabis for recreational as well medicinal purposes. The US legalized hemp and hemp oil with the 2018 Farm Bill.

Hemp will soon be grown in space by an Outfit called Space Tango. This company plans to send hemp seeds for cultivation on the International Space Station. They will use small CubeLabs that transmit data and images to earth in real-time

Funding our Mission at Cannabis in Space

To raise money to being growing cannabis in space, we are investing heavily in cannabis stocks and writing about it on The Cannabis Express.
