This new bill — the Marijuana Freedom and Opportunity Act — is the fourth piece of legislation that would legalize recreational marijuana, though none have been marked up for a vote by the House judiciary committee. The SAFE Act will be voted on soon, but it does not change federal laws or rescheduling THC, as do the others.
The Marijuana Freedom and Opportunity Act proposes dropping marijuana from the Controlled Substances Act. It would also expunge all criminal records for possession of marijuana.
